LD

Lethal Dose. (Latin: letalis = lethal).

Describes acute toxicity. Dose of an active ingredient or ionising radiation that causes the test organisms' death within a certain period of time. The lethal dose of medicines is normally calculated and expressed as LD100 or LD50.
