CDC

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. One of the major operating components of the US Department of Health and Human Services protecting public health. In addition to better health education and promotion, CDC focuses on the prevention of infectious diseases. In Germany, it is the RKI (Robert Koch-Institute) which is responsible for the matters regarding infection control; for the EU, it is the ECDC (European Centre for Disease Control) in Stockholm.
