The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the importance of consistent hygiene and infection control – even outside of hospitals. With the growing trend towards outpatient care, new challenges are emerging for dental practices, dialysis facilities and pharmacies. In this issue, we present practical solutions for greater patient safety and introduce our new pathogen poster: a comprehensive overview of the most important pathogens in healthcare.

We are once again celebrating a special occasion, which we honour in this issue of DISINFACTS Sterillium® turns 60! Since its launch in 1965, our ’classic blue‘ has become one of the world‘s most successful hand disinfectants. This issue also features an interview with Prof Dr Swen Malte John on occupational safety and hand hygiene. Other topics include surface disinfection and sustainable fibres, new pathogens and much more.

In this issue, we look to the future in the face of undeniable global environmental changes: at HARTMANN, we see environmental protection as health protection. In this issue, you can read how we plan to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. In addition, the product family for more sustainable surface disinfection is growing. Exemplary results are also provided by the tests of an independent testing laboratory on two hand disinfectants, which we present in this issue.
