INCI represents the common nomenclature for ingredient labelling on the packaging of cosmetic products which became mandatory with the implementation of the 6th amendment of the EU Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC). It refers to a new terminology developed by COLIPA to fulfil the demands for an international approach. One INCI name may cover several chemical compounds.
