Providencia rettgeri is a facultative anaerobic, Gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family.

P. rettgeri may cause infections of the urinary and gastrointestinal tract.

Main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
