Prevention

In medicine, this term is used for prophylactic measures that aim at preventing diseases and damages to health.

There are three levels of preventive medicine strategies:

  • primary prevention – prior to the occurrence of disease or health damage
  • secondary prevention – shall prevent a disease’s further deterioration or chronification
  • tertiary prevention – helps prevent relapses and associated complications.
