VISA

Vancomycin-intermediate-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus isolates or strains that not only are resistant to all available beta-lactam antibiotics (e.g. penicillin), but also possess intermediate resistance to vancomycin and other glycopeptide antibiotics.
