The antiseptics used should at least be virucidal against enveloped viruses or possess proven activity against HIV. Skin and mucous membrane antiseptics are generally not tested for their activity against viruses. However, skin antiseptics often have the indication "hygienic hand disinfection" for which, depending on the preparation, the "virucidal activity against enveloped viruses" has been proven.
