Morganella spp. comprises Gram-negative, rod-shaped and facultative anaerobic bacteria belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family.

They also occur in the context of nosocomial infections and trigger urinary tract infection.

Species of these bacteria may be ESBL producers.

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
