Enterobius vermicularis
(parasite)

The pinworm Enterobius vermicularisi belongs to the nematodes (threadworms) and infests the human colon.

It causes enterobiasis, which often is asymptomatic; most frequent symptom is perianal and perineal itching.

Main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.

For a successful inactivation of parasites, specific disinfectants effective against parasites are required.
