Proteus mirabilis
(bacterium incl. ESBL/MRGN)

Proteus mirabilis is a Gram-negative, facultative anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium in the Enterobacteriaceae family.

It is facultative pathogenic, but may trigger urinary tract infection, wound infection and pneumonia in immunocompromised people.

In recent years, the resistances to many antibiotic classes (also beta-lactams) has increased.

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
