The Trichophyton spp. genus comprises filamentous fungi that are able to form fungal spores. They belong to the family of Arthrodermataceae.

Fungal infections with Trichophyton spp. cause dermal infections (fungal skin, hair and nail diseases).

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
