Trichuris trichiura
(parasite)

The threadworm Trichuris trichiura, also referred to as whipworm, is a human parasite.

An infection with Trichuris trichiura can cause trichuriasis, which may lead to gastrointestinal symptoms. However, most infections show no symptoms and thus remain undetected.

Transmission mainly occurs via contaminated water and food.

For a successful inactivation of parasites, specific disinfectants effective against parasites are required.
