Fungi of the genus Epidermophyton are club-shaped sac fungi and belong to the Arthrodermataceae family. The genus comprises the Epidermophyton floccosum and Epidermophyton stockdaleae fungi.

Epidermophyton spp. may elicit skin diseases such as athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris) or body ringworm (tinea corporis).

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
