Reprocessing of Medical Devices

Medical devices are not medicinal products, but products with a medical purpose and also serve human health in the narrower and broader sense. Medical device are e.g. instruments, apparatus, devices, software, implants, a reagent, material or other object which, according to the manufacturer, is intended for human use.

Agents specifically used for cleaning, disinfecting or sterilising medical inventory are also considered medical devices in some countries. Since medical device reprocessing is subject to high quality requirements, it is regulated by laws, regulations and recommendations. It includes various steps such as cleaning, care, packaging and sterilisation and ends with the documented release for use. The aim is to ensure technically intact and hygienically perfectly reprocessed devices
